Show Review: Oxford Collapse / Oneida / Extra Action Marching Band (East River Music Project 07.30.05)

Cimg0031I've missed Oxford Collapse play numerous times this year, so I was determined to catch them play this past Saturday at the East River Music Project (MP3s available).  Little did I know that it takes about a year to walk from the closest train station to get to the ERMP.  By the time I got there, Oxford Collapse had long been done and Oneida was on stage.  I caught Oneida at Siren Festival (two years ago I believe) for about two songs.  I enjoyed that performance more than their album releases, but I couldn't get into Each One Teach One, that was just too much.  I was blown away by Oneida's show this past Saturday though.  I had people tell me that Oneida's live show was not to be missed and I'd now have to agree.  Frantic, loud yet cohesive.  Great stuff.  (30 second video clip of Oneida from show / 4MB)

Cimg0035Next up was the Extra Action Marching Band from SF.  I had heard this was a band not to miss.  I've definitely never seen anything like it. I counted 27 members.  This is definitely an act you'd have to see to believe.  I remember passing a funny green bus on the walk over the ERMP, that was obviously their tour bus.  I'd completely botch up a description of their show, so I'll stop right now.  (15 second video clip of Extra Action Marching Band from show / 4MB)
