Top 10 Web Fads (via:  Slashdot) (Oh man...Friendster, Blogger, Hot or Not, more...)

Magazine Rack reviews Rolling Stone "It's a shame, really: Rolling Stone used to matter. Now it's just another magazine."

Duel_ipod_mixer Numark to announce dueling iPod DJ mixer (I'm a hater of the amateur DJ.  It was alright when it was like one out of every hundred folks in NYC, but now everyone claims they are a DJ thinking they put on a dope set.  Those CD turntables I admit are pretty cool, but it's still all about the 1200s and a DJ that is at the very least not off beat)

BBC on the role of the digital technology in the growth of the DIY MP3 DJ (See comment above.  I'm hatin')

Kanye says: "If you have a White Stripes album or a Franz Ferdinand album, you should also have a Kanye West album" (via: Coolfer) (I check Gigwise daily, but somehow I missed this)

Byron Crawford gives Clap Your Hands Say Yeah a relatively positive review (I thought for sure they'd kill the album.  I expected too much from this group based on the hype.)

Make puts up a free PDF of their print magazine (Thank you workplace printer!)

Pentax_optio60 Pentax Optio 60 is a 6 megapixel camera and it's only $200 (Damn.  6 megapixel cameras aimed at the entry level crowd?  I actually am looking to buy a new camera)

Legal music downloads triple (They still are dwarfed by illegal downloads though.  5:1)

Extrawack! runs Nike's One Hit Wonder and talks about passing by the different acts like Chingy and Z-Trip (I wanted to go to hang out at this and not run, but I had prior commitments.  Sounds like a good time)

NYTimes cover Podcasts (I've posted about 20 articles about them, but still have yet to download one.  Maybe this weekend)

Random bag checks at NYC subways begins / NYPD guidelines on how to spot a terrorist (I got checked this morning and it actually wasn't too bad, but next time I'll make eye contact.  That's it.  I do believe that we will be bombed soon regardless though.)

Google reports another quarter of strong earnings, but doesn't meet expectations (I think they still have lots of untapped revenue streams)

Brooklyn Vegan discovers Manhattan Carnivore (MC has no love for CYHSY.  I was not blown away by what I've heard, but I don't think they're bad.  Nevertheless, a strong review for CYHSY has been in edit at Prefix for weeks and will be posted any day now.)

Do taking ads change the value of a blog?  (I think that perhaps slightly, but it's very minor I believe.  I also think that ads that readers find interesting actually are useful to readers.  Obviously I'm biased though.)

Girl who falls off skateboard to be burned by manhole cover last year files lawsuit (I remember seeing this on the news last year.  It was a pretty gnarly burn)

Garbage Pail Kids movie on DVD (I don't want to watch it, but I'd like to have it)

Tips on how to get rich slowly (The safe/conservative/patient/cheap route has never appealed to me, but I do admire people that can do it)

KCRW goes into Podcasting

re: byron crawford's review of cyhsy...

i don't have a beef with the review (though personally, i don't care for cyhsy), but at the end it says "So yeah, this is a pretty decent album (like an 8/10, maybe)..."

i'd consider an 8/10 a little more than "pretty decent." more like "really, really, good." i think grade inflation is making number ratings for music more and more useless. the numbers are starting to lose significance for me.
