Bloc Party's favorite NYC show
Bloc Party played Webster Hall to a mega packed crowd of youngsters. I had seen them play once last year at the basement of Tribeca Band and since then they have gotten much better live. I still wouldn't put their live show at the level of their album, but in terms of pure entertainment the band delivers. Kele even said that this was their best NYC show to date. I thought he might have just been saying that, but the crowd was treated to two encores and the band looked like they were having a blast. The second encore happened as about half the crowd had exited when the soundman? said they were coming back on. The stampede was on and the floor was shaking. This was about as much as a NYC crowd would dance.
Other notables included:
-The drummer showed up sans shirt. Then during the show his hair was freely flowing from some vent blowing wind. The guy seriously has got some great hair and should be in a commercial for Pantene or something.
-Two dudes almost getting in a fight during "This Modern Love", would've been great to see two guys slug it out to this. I believe it was one of those situations where one guy was dancing and bumping into the other guy or more likely his girl and the other guy didn't like it.
-Kele got on the drums for a bit at the end of the show

I also ended up selling Mick from The Big Takeover my extra ticket for $20. Check them out. They've been doing it the right way for a long time now.

Despite all the Webster Hall controversy (mostly the temperature) yesterday, Wednesday (June 15th, 2005) night's show reconfirmed why I love Bloc Party so much. I left Webster Hall drenched in sweat, but NOT from the temperature inside the club;... [Read More]

tong went shirtless in sf, too. did they get better as the night progressed? here they started as if they didn't care to be there, and then by the end they were rockin'.

yeah, but did tong start the show minus shirt? they were into it from the start and although people including myself characterized a lot of the crowd as annoying people that probably never step foot in smaller venues like the knit, people were moving/dancing.

he came out on stage taking it off. the girls went wild. relatively dancey crowd for SF, but that's not saying much.
